Little Adrian’s favorite book has always been Where the Wild Things Are—a world bursting with wildness and imagination. His mom loves to call him “my little monster,” half teasing, half overflowing with affection.
When Adrian turned one, his mom would like our studio to create a set of childhood portraits inspired by this beloved book—something that truly captured who he was at that age. And so this tender, whimsical journey began. We hand-crafted a series of miniature sets based on the world in the book. Adrian became the story’s mischievous young hero—the boy who got into just enough trouble to be sent to his room without dinner.
As night quietly slipped in, the room in our set began to change: moss crept across the floor, the walls melted away, and faint tree shadows slowly grew out of the darkness. Childhood imagination lifted its curtain.
He stepped into that dreamscape, climbed into a tiny boat, and sailed across a boundless sea until he reached the land of the Wild Things. There, crowned by his loyal “monsters,” he ruled as king—free to be as playful and unruly as only a child can be.
But soon, even a king can feel homesick. Adrian began to miss the smell of home, the warmth of Mom’s arms, and that quiet, steady love that needs no words. So he bid farewell to his wild companions, sailed back through the night, and returned to his very real little room. Waiting for him was a bowl of porridge, still warm—because a mother’s love never cools.
This series went on to win multiple international photography awards and received high praise from many professionals.
“The photographer uses exquisitely delicate lighting and scene design to bring the soul of the story to life.” —Zhai Honggang, Jury Member, 23rd IPA Awards
But to us, the most meaningful praise came from our client. When Adrian’s mom received the finished artwork, she burst into happy tears and said, “This is my Adrian—my dearest little monster! The moment I saw these photos, I immediately thought of how mischievous and adorable he is—so Adrian!”
And that reflects our truest intention in portrait creation: we don’t just capture beauty and cuteness—we capture personality, spirit, and all the small, fleeting traits that make each child uniquely themselves. Our goal is to preserve the version of your child that lives in your heart: the purest, most natural, and most precious version of all.
