Late afternoon sun crosses a Skagen room and lands on the wall, the table and the girl's pink dress; a baby sleeps in the cradle at her side. Ancher was the only Skagen painter born there, and she spent her life on rooms like this one — the subject is the light, and the braid is what holds still long enough to show it.
